At its most basic level, compression can be seen merely as a labour‑saving solution to mix-balance problems: if you control the levels of an overly dynamic instrument, it becomes easier to find a consistent fader setting for it. While the practicalities of setting up compressors can take a little time to get your head around to start with, there is still a certain logic behind the process, as I’ve tried to demonstrate in preceding pages of this blog. Check it out here:
But, did you know that not every compressor plugin sounds the same? In fact, most compressors will bring some slight tonal nuance to your track that is different from the rest of the pack. It pays to spend some time comparing your compressors to see which sounds best on your tracks.
I also use serial compression on the vocal bus very often.Stacking up different compressors is a good experimentation to start with.

So, the best compressors for mixing EDM vocals of my list :
Best Vocal Vst Free
1. Waves CLA-2A (or CLA-3A)
Modelled on the legendary electro-optical tube compressor, the CLA-2A emulates the original’s smooth, frequency-dependent behaviours that have made it a favourite of engineers everywhere. Like the mid-‘60s classic, the CLA-2A sounds great on guitars and bass, and really shines on vocals. Top it all off with Chris Lord-Alge’s personal presets, and seemingly limitless instantiations, and you’ve got a model that surpasses its inspiration.
2. Softube FET Compressor
The FET Compressor is an impressively faithful modelling of one of the most iconic compressors of all time. FET Compressor is loved for its aggressiveness and its tendency to add some tasty distortion to the sound source when driven hard. This compressor loves to be slammed and abused. But few things are so good they can’t be improved, so it also had added a couple of nice features that makes it even more flexible than the hardware original.
3. Fabfilter Pro-C
FabFilter Pro-C is a high quality compressor plug-in with various beautiful program dependent compression styles. Professionals will be delighted with the high quality sound, while the innovative interface makes compression easy to grasp for everyone. Apart from its beautiful sound and character, you also get very flexible routing. In Expert mode, external side chain input is available and you can choose between mono, stereo, or mid/side processing with completely customizable channel linking and routing.
4. Renaissance Vox
Best Vocal Vst Plugin
“There’s nothing like Renaissance Vox. It holds the vocal in the forefront of the mix like nothing else, while still sounding natural.” – Todd Parker
Best Vocal Vst Plugins 2015 Download
Rvox is great on vocals. If you ever have trouble with a compressor or need to give vocals that extra punch to sit in the mix, this will get the job done. I use it on all my vocals, couldn’t do without it. Fantastic plugin.
5.Izotope Ozone Dynamics
Most popularly used for mastering, this plugin does wonders with vocals too.
It can apply dynamics processors selectively to different frequency ranges, and even to the center and edges of the sound stage with mid/side processing. Automatic Gain Compensation provides automatic makeup gain, and also allows you to easily compare your mix with and without dynamics processing applied.New metering features including interactive Threshold Control with input/output gain reduction and histogram options, and the Gain Reduction Trace Meter. Also includes Hard or soft knee operation.
