JELSTUDIO's 'AL' (Auto Loudness) family An automatic perceived-loudness normalizer for LIVE and OFFLINE use |
ToneBoosters has released TB EBULoudness, a stereo and multi-channel loudness measurement plug-in for Windows and Mac. The EBU published its Loudness Recommendation EBU R128. It tells how broadcasters can measure and normalize audio using loudness meters instead of Peak Meters (PPMs) only, as is common practice nowadays. TBEBULoudness calculates k-weighted momentary loudness (LM), short-term. Apr 15, 2019 This is a freeware loudness metering plugin featuring four metering modes (LUFS, LRA, DR and true peak). It is a must-have visual tool for every producer and mixing engineer on a budget as it will help determine the proper amount of loudness without sacrificing the sound quality and dynamic range of the track.
JELSTUDIO's 'AL 1' (Auto Loudness) LIVE use. AL will automatically and continuously adjust audio-gain to maintain a similar overall perceived-loudness of the audio going through it. AL has 18 different methods of adjusting loudness. Technically it is a 32/64 bit VST2 audio-effect plugin mainly for use in a LIVE VST-host (for example with LIVE stage-performance audio, or with music/TV home-stereo audio), but it can also be used in DAWs and sound/video-editors on Windows. A few ideas of what AL can be used for: to balance dialog and sound-effects when watching movies, to avoid loud commercials when watching TV-shows, to balance loudness between songs when listening to music. It can also be used on LIVE internet-broadcasts. | JELSTUDIO's 'AL 12' (Auto Loudness) OFFLINE use. AL 12 sounds more musically transparent than AL1, but uses a half-second latency to achieve this. AL 12 has 18 different methods of adjusting loudness (Not the same as in AL 1, but tuned for more transparency) Technically it is a 32/64 bit VST2 audio-effect plugin for use in a LIVE VST-host with music home-stereo audio, or in DAWs and sound/video-editors on Windows for offline rendering/exporting of audio. A few ideas of what AL can be used for: to balance dialogue and sound-effects in movie-soundtracks, to balance varied material in podcasts, DJ-mixes or compiled radio/TV-programs, to balance loudness between songs when listening to music. It can also be used on LIVE internet-broadcasts where the half-second latency is acceptable. |

Vst Plugin Audacity
This is the same as 'AL 1' but with a short lookahead, causing a short delay between input and output, which may improve the general sound while still being fast enough for LIVE-use with television-viewing.

Normalize allows you to raise or lower the level of audio that was recorded at an inappropriate input level. You can use the maximum peak level or the loudness of the audio as normalization reference.
Allows you to normalize your audio based on the maximum peak level. Maximum Peak Level in dBFS sets a maximum peak level for the audio, between -50 dB and 0 dB. From this maximum level, the current maximum level of the selected audio is subtracted, and the gain is raised or lowered by the resulting amount.
Allows you to normalize your audio based on the integrated loudness, according to the recommendation R 128 of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Integrated Loudness in LUFS sets a loudness value for the audio, between -34 LUFS and 0 LUFS.
NoteFor audio shorter than 0.4 s, no loudness normalization is applied in order to avoid unexpectedly high gain changes.
Normalizing a highly dynamic signal based on the integrated loudness may cause peaks over 0 dB. To avoid this, we recommend that you add the Brickwall Limiter plug-in after the Normalize process.
